In London, there'll be an opportunity to join an exclusive slumber party at Kensington Palace, the home of William and Kate; or learn (read 'sample and get sozzled') the history of the cocktail at the Museum of Soho. Lancashire is putting on a 'Festival of Wonders' with 20 events across the county. In Warwickshire, a Regency costumed ball - sure to be a hit with period drama buffs - has been scheduled at Coughton Court; while in Leeds, Harewood House is hosting talks and food by candlelight; and visitors will be able to go behind the scenes at a dinosaur exhibition in Newcastle. The events aren't all indoors, either: for those keen to embrace nature, there are bat walks taking place in Scotland and Surrey.

Perhaps most excitingly, Museums at Night has also enlisted a troop of world-renowned artists including Jake and Dinos Chapman, Gavin Turk and Martin Creed, to head up events around the country.
